Graphics card 6-pin connector?

Thread Starter
Hey,

I recently purchased a graphics card (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/172297) seeing as I needed a new one. It was delivered today and I opened it up, inserted the graphics card into my AGP slot then realised it said I need to connect a lead to my psu... only to find there's no slot for this. The graphics card does not work without this being connected, when I tried.

What do I do? I'm extremely confused and don't know what to do... Sorry for the lack of information, feel free to ask my anything and I'll attempt to find out for you. Thanks!

Two options: Either take it back, or get a PSU with a 6-pin connector.

Did the card come with a PCI-e power connecter to molex adapter? (something like this)
If so (or if you pick one up) you could still use the card.

Thanks for the response.

I may take it back, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make the card work? I don't know anything about PSU's.

It didn't come with that, no. What does this do, and where in my motherboard does it go? Thank you.

If your PSU doesn't have 6-pin PCI-e power connectors (connection as pictured on the video card) these will plug into a standard molex connector (as pictured in the link provided).
All you'd need to do is match 'em up and you're good to go smile.gif

If it's cheaper to get the adapter go for it - if you can exchange the card at no cost, then request one which only runs the boards power (eg requires no external power).

EDIT:
Just realized this was AGP - so it'd be AGP to Molex (not PCI-e).

Ah, I see. Where would I find a molex connector in my computer? The connector looks like it would go in my HDD... Sorry for being nooby.

Could you recommend any cards? I don't really want to buy another card, but if I have to, I will. I really want to get this working without having to buy another card, though.

Sorry for the late response, was sidetracked.

Molex connector

This card is relatively new so you might have a good chance of finding it wherever you are.

You'll find them on cabling from your power supply (just like the pic joe posted).
The connector you're referring to on your HDD is also connected from that just as you would with an adapter for your video card smile.gif

If you needed to exchange your card you'd likely have to get something low-profile that won't require external power (similar to this).
Your current card is better than that though, and it shouldn't cost much at all to get a power adapter.
