Cannot get beyond 4Ghz on Phenom 965BE 125W

Hi everyone, Im a noob to the Overclocking world BUT have been reading for past few weeks various guides on a successful overclock on many forums. At the moment i'v got my Phenom II x4 965be OC'd to 4.0ghz stable but cannot get beyond that - looking to hopefully OC to 4.4 or beyond if poss and also cannot get my cpu/nb past 2600mhz as that drops my HT Link down to 1600mhz and any higher goes into reboot cycle. My temps are all good and i've tried many ways to reach 4.2 - 4.4ghz but its not happening. Below are my system specs and my temps....

Amd Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition 125w running @ 4.01ghz (Multiplier x20, Bus 200) @ 1.409V -
CPU Temp:- Idle 36 degrees / Load inc stress test 46 degrees,
Thermalright Silver Arrow cpu heatsink,
Asus Crosshair IV Formula motherboard,
2x Gigabyte HD4870 x2 in Crossfire X running @ 790/960 (will not overclock any higher ),
G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB (2x2gb) 1600mhz 7.8.7.24 1T running @
1600mhz 6.8.6.20 1T 1.65V (FSBRAM 1:4),

Coolermaster 1000watts powersupply with 6 x 12V rails.

My Cpu/NB Frequency @ 2600mhz is @ 1.18V which iv tried upto 1.35V to get past 2600mhz but still goes into a reboot cycle.
Tried 1.55V for the cpu, Different Multiplier/Bus combinations to reach 4.4Ghz but still no go.

Programs used to Stress Test and General Testing - Prime95 (8hrs), AOD Stress Test (1hr), MemTest+ v4.20 (7passes) and obviously Gaming lol .

Please could someone help me or advise me where im going wrong as this would be much appreciated.

Many Thanx

That is very odd. You have all the right components too. I reach 4.0 really easy and I am using a crappy MB.

I'd try writing down these known memory timings and then going loose and slow on the mem for CPU testing. Take the load off the memory controller.

If that don't work, I dunno, maybe try a BIOS update. Sometimes that fixes weird bugs. (BIOS updates make me leery though, I had a board try its darndest to brick itself this year! yuk)

Hi Iroh, iv loosened the memory timings to 9.9.9.24 2T but still no joy. Iv dropped the multiplier down and FSB up and vice versa but im still at a dead end, iv upped the voltages on numerous components but still no joy.

Might be a dumb question but I see it a lot. Are you turning up the voltages on your NB or CPU/NB in the bios?

Can you lock the HT to 2000?

Hi, thanx for replying and no its not a dumb question. Yeh iv upped the voltages but its still not happening and iv locked the HT to 2000 as any increase dosent improve performance as iv been told and read on many forums.

Try running your ram at its rated speed instead of loosening it or overclocking it.

I find it very strange with such a high end board it's dropping your HT link to 1600 for anything over 2600. It happened to me with an old ASUS board I had to except it dropped to 1000.

Try a bios update?
