I currently have a 5870 but as I'm running eyefinity now I'm having to lower my settings and I'm looking for a little more horsepower now. So my question to OCN is should I Crossfire my 5870, or upgrade to a Crossfire 6950/70(This option will start out as one and then I'll move up) or stop complaining and wait it out until 28nm.

I'm thinking it'd might be better to get an Unlocked HD 6950 since it comes with 2GB and I can easily get 6970 performance especially since they're 250 on the egg which is around the price of a new/used 5870.

Depends. How much would another 5870 cost you? In my opinion I would skip the HD 6000 series and just wait it out for the HD 7000 series. I would also add another 5870 if you can score one for $180 or less while you wait.

I run crossfire 5870's (although the 2GB versions) and they beast through anything I throw at them. I'm going to wait for the HD 7000 series because the performance increase from upgrading to the HD 6000 series isn't worth the cost and hassle IMO.

How's your FPS in games, I can't find any updated/recent 5870 benchmarks as of recent. Would you mind telling me numbers or give me a benchmark.

If I can find a 5870 for cheap I think I'm going to buy it if not I think upgrading to a flashes HD 6950 would improve FPS by a little for I can hold off until 7XXX.

I'm gonna have to say just CF it and wait for next gen cards. One 6950(unlock)/70 isn't going to cut it at that res too. Had to buy another one to for more horsepower for mine as well. Though, it depends what games are you playing.

I had a 5870, it was a great card. Saw a great deal on dual 6870's, so I bought them asap. I didnt really see that much of a difference. The frames were better, but all the games I played the 5870 was running smooth anyways. Plus the heat and noise of the 6870,s made me sell them to get a 6970 lightning. Wish I can just go back and keep my 5870.

Sell your current 5870 and buy a 6950 2gb. That's what I would do.
