Help limiting user access

Thread Starter
Ok so heres the deal, i need help limiting a users access on a work laptop.
I will be doing this on 72 different laptops so an easy explanation is preferred but really as long as it works its fine

I would like a certain program to autorun(i know how to do that) when windows starts, i would like EVERYTHING ELSE to be disabled, literally, no internet, no my computer, no usb access, no dvd access, no installing, uninstalling, NOTHING
this will be on windows 7 home premium preferably

whats the easiest way to do this?
a couple different solutions are preferred

Thanks in advance,
Crazymonkey

If you are in a Windows domain environment, all of said items can be controlled through group policy. That would be the easiest way., I don't think you can join win 7 home version to a domain however so I suppose you will have to look for some other method.

Don't forget to run through Command Prompt
Quote:
gpupdate /force
This way the Group Policy can be forced immediately and will take be taken into effect.

Are you in a domain environment? If so Group Policy is the key.

If you're not in a domain environment I would suggest using Windows 7 Professional. Then you can use local group policy and perform the same restrictions (but modifications will require physically making said changes).

You might be able to use some scripting but locking the machines down to your limit will be difficult if not impossible, which is the point of using group policy.

Yep, look into kiosk software. That would be your next best thing.

that along the lines of something you are looking for?

I would look into this http://www.sitekiosk.com/SiteKiosk/Default.aspx if you need to completely lockdown laptops not using any Policies, although it will get more expensive than upgrading to Pro and using Domain Wide policies as you continue to add more computers.
