It realy is hit and miss as to what type of work you want to do. Alot of the entry level jobs and basic helpdesk and pc tech jobs you will apply for will benefit from having it.

Yes it is they require you tale 2 tests to get the cert you also have to pay if you fail the test too
post #28 of 41
I know they make you pay. I was just making it known that it's $168 x 2 for the certification.

Get this anyway.

I think of this as the SAT/ACT of computers.

The argument that certs are worthless exists in just about every field, and I do not know why. With me it was ASE's (automotive certs). There were two distinct groups, those that simply went and took the test and went back to work and those that belly ached for month after month, then ended up failing the test when they had no more room to dodge it.

With the A+ I found the info about legacy hardware was Ok but the amount of info about legacy OS's was pretty hard to see the why. I say this but just then the other day one of my doctors asked for help moving patient records off off software that only ran on Windows 95. It is with the "medical industry" that you will see a lot of legacy issues.

For books there is a series by Jean Andrews that I liked a lot.
