Help repairing USB on old Socket 775 motherboard

So I recently bought an old cheap P5GD1 Pro motherboard off of ebay to replace the motherboard on my old rig which had recently stopped working.

The catch is that this P5GD1 Pro used to be used as a motherboard for a CCTV/DVR system. And for security reasons the USB ports on the rear of the board were filled with epoxy to disable them.

I assumed that that would not be a problem, as i can just use the front USB ports, right? .....wrong.

I went into the BIOS to make sure USB support was fully enabled and tried to plug in a USB mouse into one of the front USB ports. The mouse's laser flashed for a second but then nothing happened. The same goes for any other USB device, a light flashed for a second and then nothing.

So there is power going through the device when it's plugged in, but then nothing happens after that.

I assumed the front USB ports had some how been disabled too. So i plugged in a USB expansion card into one of the PCI-E slots, but the same thing happened when i tried to plug something into that. Power for just a second and then nothing.

So it appears that the USB function has been somehow completely disabled on the board, but i don't see any signs of alteration other then the epoxy jammed in the back ports.

I tried looking around the board to see if there's any kind of jumpers that could be setup to physically disable the USB function, but i couldn't find any.

Would there be something else on the board that could be setup to disable the USB ports?

Is it possible that the epoxy is causing some kind of short thats stopping all the ports from working?? Not sure if this is the problem because i don't see why it would stop the other ports from working.

I was thinking of removing the epoxy filled USB ports from the back and replacing them, but i don't know if that will fix the problem.

Other then the USB ports this motherboard works completely fine.

+rep to anyone who can help me fix it!

Did you try updating the usb drivers? Is it showing any issues in device manager? If your all up to date and no issues shown in device manager then I would take a soldering iron and remove the epoxy filled usb ports. I dont know if its causing a problem but doesnt take long to remove them and they arent usable anyways. Then try to use front ports or your card and see what happens.

This is on a fresh install of Windows 7 with all updates applied through Windows Update, i didn't see anything about USB drivers when it was installing but I'll take a look in the morning.

Device manager seems to display all the ports and doesn't show any errors for them. It says they are all up to date and working. When a device is plugged in, nothing happens to any of the ports listed.

One thing i did notice though is that the BIOS version is 1301, but this BIOS is not listed in ASUS's list of BIOS's for this board on the webpage. The most recent one is 1013.001 BETA, with the one before that being 1012.

Anyone know anything about this BIOS version?
