I just bought this card (MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr III).

I have tried to change the voltage but Afterburner wont let me do that.
What could be wrong, is it me, the software or the card that is faulty ?
Also ... what does Triple over Voltage mean and how can I use it ?

Download AB v2.2.0 Beta 6 to allow for voltage adjustments. Also ensure that you flag the "Unlock voltage control" in settings.

The triple over voltage allows you to adjust the Core, Memory & Aux voltages all indepedently.

Now I'd really be interested in keeping that kind of 2d voltage while being able to use much higher 3d clocks/volts.

Do you think it's a good idea to flash the bios to achieve this?
Hey, just solved my own question so I might just as well share it

A BIOS-flash isn't needed to have separate 2d / 3d clocks and voltages. MSI Afterburner has a feature in the properties > profiles menu which will automatically switch between a 2d and 3d profile of your own choosing.

That means that you can have an undervolted 2d profile when in 2d mode and have it automatically switch to an overclocked 3d profile when in 3d mode. I keep my 2d clock at 0.812v 50/130 - 405/324 and 3d clock at 0.962v 833/2200. Now the 2d clocks won't need to unnecessarily be at a high voltage just because you overclock the 3d mode. This is perfect as the card can keep even cooler and draw less power when not in use, while switching to the 3d overclock as soon as it is needed.

Please bip me when a version that allows to reduce fan speed below 40% comes out.
In the new setup as foreseen the two fans of the TF3 are the loudest of all and I would like to tone them down since the gpu is around 40idle and 55load °C.

Just use the included 2d/3d profile manager in Afterburner.

I have just completed reading all 74 pages of this thread searching for every available pearl of wisdom. Is there a prize?

I think most, if not all, of my questions have answers buried in the thread already.... but you never know.

My TFIII arrives tomorrow. I was able to get a Newegg Open Box deal - $269 shipped. I do hope it works as there is always a risk with and Open Box....

The card is more that I was shopping for in terms of cost but it is a lot more card than I expected to get. It will be overkill for my Q6600 @3.0GHz but WTH, I could not resist.

I will find out soon enough!

LOL,

My first question.

I will be uninstalling a Radeon HD4830 and it ATI Catlyst drivers.

1) Will using the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS of Windows 7 and the CCleaner to clean the registry be adequate to ensure a clean install of the Nvidia drivers?

2) Is the best driver to start with the latest version from the Nvidia download site?

Well. that is all settled. The new TFIII card is installed with the latest Nvidia WHQL Driver 280.26 and Afterburner 2.2.0 Beta 7.

Getting it into a mini-tower case was a tedious. Had to give up 2 SATA ports that the card covered up and remove one HDD. Yeah, I know time for a new case and possible MOBO. I tried using some 90 Degree SATA cables but they were just a little to high off the board to allow the rear PCI-E "latch" to lock in on the card. I need aome REALLY low profile 90 Degree cables.

AB shows an idle vid of .912 and load vid of .987. GPU-Z VDDC is .913 and .988.

Started a few games just for hoots, Crysis Warhead and Fallout:NV, just on stock settings... what a difference between this and my humble HD 4830... as in WOW

Will try some benchmarks and OC tests SOON....
