I have a Virus Help!!

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I have a virus that I came home to, and have been trying to get rid of this now for 2 hours and no luck. The icon that is on my desktop (which I deleted already) said "Windows Disk Fix" I am missing 1/2 of my icons on my desktop (and they seem to be folders I have created w/ pictures etc.) When I open "My Documents" it says "this folder is empty" and I can't go into any subfolders on the left hand side. I tried booting into safe mode w/ Networking, updating Mal-Ware Bytes then running it, but it found nothing, I also tried "HiJack This" to see if there was anything weird in my HKCU but nothing that would be considered [RANDOM].

Here's what I found online, but I don't know how to do the "manual" steps if anyone could guide me through that would be GREAT.

Any and all help is appreciated and will receive REP for sure

Thanks,

Nick

Or a live Anti-virus CD if you can't get into the OS

I tried RKill as well, I still can't see any icons etc.

I also have no problem killing the disc and wiping everything, but I can't get to my pictures to save them, so I can't risk losing years of pictures. Any other way I can get to my pictures? I don't mind reformating as long as I can get my pictures to my external.

reinstall is the best option but if there is crucial info that isn't backed up try booting in safe mode w/networking running rkill and then running MBAM, try superantispyware and eset online scanner as well. run a full scan with antivirus. make sure to run all scans in safe mode (just w/cp no networking) use cp w/networking to update and download stuff

Did that first, safemode w/ networking updated MBAM and I tried superantispydware 2nd. I can give ESET a try I guess.
