Updated Windows Security Guide! - Page 3

Thread Starter
networked.net brings you to this sub forum, which is where I mostly hang out.

Also, I don't want to reference my clan page because, I never know how long I will be in a clan. I could theoretically leave tomorrow and not have access to editing my post.

Furthermore, I never reference networked.net, because I usually make these threads for my clan first, refine them, then post them here.

It's just a lot easier for me to not have to go back and link all of these threads to each other. What I will do in the future is message a moderator, which I should have done in the first place in hindsight.

I still think that you could have (or perhaps "should" have) done something to make sure no one assumed that this is plagiarism.

This wouldn't be the first time we've seen blatant plagiarism, so can you blame us? I sure hope not.

I know you think we should have just sent you a private message, but what would you say to someone when you think they're plagiarizing?

I fully agree with screening for plagiarism. I am in academia and do understand the importance of presenting one's own work. I will definitely take that more into account when posting these guides in the future.

In turn, for people searching for plagarism, simply PM people and say (for example),

"Hey, I found this guide/article/news over xxxxxxxxxxxx. Mind proving you are the original author in a days time? If you can't, I may have to report/call you out".

It affords respect for those who actually authored the content, and it's a (kind of) awesome passive aggressive way of telling those who are stealing content to go away, because they are not going to get away with it here.

Hey, I really like that - especially the part where you used "in a day's time". I mean, I wouldn't have thought of that (well, I didn't). I almost freeze up when I think of sending someone a private message for something like that, but including things like "In a day's time" does actually give me something to make it easier.

I know this sounds a bit silly, but that really was helpful! Thank you for the tip, lucido! Now I just hope I can remember it should I ever come across something like this again. I suffer from CRS Syndrome.

What does it take to get your own "clan"? Is a clan any number more than one?
