Really hot GTX460s...

Thread Starter
IMO these cards are a bit warm, once in awhile I get a BSOD with BCode 116 (From my understanding its the GPUs hitting the temp threshold.) I just grabbed and extra 120mm fan and threw it behind them but this still looks hot to me. (My 580 runs 80c all day with its OC) Opinions and ideas?

BTW these are Galaxy cards, no card in this rig is OC'ed. The nice and cool 460 is an EVGA.

Maybe pull the stock cooler off of it and make sure the factory TIM application doesn't look like it did on my GTX470.

u sure the fan of GTX 460 is working properly?
The power cord for removeable fan of Galaxy GTX460 seems easy to be unplugged/loosen if you ever tried to "open" that fan shroud.

Yeah, the hot air is rolling out of those cards. I think HWMon would tell me if they weren't (by not displaying the current fan speed). I did open that thing up once, but I was really careful, I noticed the poor wiring to the door also.

The Galaxy cards have been known to suck at cooling when placed next to each other.

This. Try to space them out if you can.

When I first got my GTX470 a few months ago, it was hitting over 90ºC under load at stock clock speed/volts.
After cleaning up that horrible mess of TIM, it ran MUCH cooler. There was so much factory applied TIM that it was holding the heat sink off the GPU, only one edge was in reasonably good contact with the GPU.

It has been water cooled for about a month now though, hasn't been above 45ºC, even folding 24/7 with it over clocked and over volted.
