Keep my E7200 or swap it with a Q6600? - Page 4

MSI boards are notorious for crappy VRM's and burning up. Be gentle with it.

Something like the P5Q series from Asus: P5Q Pro, P5Q Deluxe, etc.

Great for OCing Quads.
this
also the gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
you can get a used one for about $50ish

The B3 revision Q6600s don't overclock well at all and run way hotter.

B3 Q6600 had a higher TDP than the G0 revision, IIRC.
look in my sig.
maybe i am lucky

as everyone else said, its a no brainer.
keep the Q6600, sell the E7200 and buy a proper p35 or p45 motherboard

Thread Starter
The Vcore is sitting at around 1.26-1.28v on load it sits around 1.35v so I think its fine and after some use my temps dropped a bit now it idles at 38-45 and on load I get 57 max but that is also after I installed speed fan and set my fans to auto adjust.

I'd say my temps are like that cause hot air can't escape my case at all cause theres one vent which is on the side of my case and my case is a MATX case so hopefully I can get a deal on a new case today. Probably gonna get a Coolermaster Storm Scout.

I'll wait a while then I'll get a new board then I'll start overclocking since I'm already getting better fps at stock speeds then I was with my E7200.

i see by your sig, it was a B3 revision.
your case does seem hot. my Q6600 idles around mid to high 20's.C
running intel burn test, it reaches the mid 70's.c but this is extreme.
running BFBC2 it never goes above mid 50's.c
also my vcore at 3.3ghz is 1.39v in the bios

just make sure you get a good cooler, this is the only thing stopping me going higher on my overclock

if you can get a decent p35 pr p45 mobo then you should get at least 3.0ghz and maybe even upto 3.4, but every cpu is different.
but even on my old gigabyte g41 mobo, i reached 2.9GHz
good luck and nice find
