Not that the D1 is bad, it's awesome!
His source is a Cambridge Audio DACMagic, not the Maverick TubeMagic D1.

So much magic

How much movie listening are you going to be doing? A sub is a must for that.

Ahhh. Totally misread that. Yup, a lot of magic thrown in there.

Thread Starter
thanks for the replies & suggestions

as tUDJ said, i'm specifically looking for active speakers and it is mainly because of space/aesthetics, i want to keep the setup very minimal

i'm not concerned with getting a sub because the room is relatively small, and music is my main priority.. roughly 80/20

thank you for this list, this is what i was looking for

if anyone has heard any of these, could you possibly describe the sound signature ? from my short research, mackie seems to be on the warm side, and dynaudios are very neutral

how do genelecs and adam sound? im not sure where i can demo these.. ive looked around but no luck

they make active speakers in the many many many thousands dollar range

jp27: you'd need to find measurements of the speakers but i imagine most would be pretty flat

I live pretty close to the Genelec factory and I went ahead and asked if I could listen to some speakers. I got a tour to the factory and as I asked, listened some speakers. 8030A were really impressive for such a large room. I would really recommend them, but on the other hand, I havent even had a look at the competion
