For a motherboard and CPU, the same price, even Intel's i3-2100 is pulling more FPS in games than a AMD hexcore. You could easily get a i5-2500k and awesome board, for the price of the 1100T and CH IV.. might even have some cash left over to get a better GPU.

most games will not take advantage of a 6 core cpu
get the x4 955 or 965 instead

similar with 8g of ram, most games will not use more than 2-4g

amd imc defaults to 1333, but will run faster without any issues
get some 1600 cl8 or better

Are you sure 650W is going to end up being enough?

And while that is true on the Sandy Bridge, if you aren't in a hurry, 900 series chipset motherboards will be out, and shortly after that Bulldozer will be here. Right now is a bad time to build an AMD rig because you are at the end of a design cycle. I'd suggest either waiting for the new generation to roll out or go with an Intel Sandy Bridge setup.

I'd say spend the extra money on a better graphics card. If you encounter a bottleneck (which I imagine probably not), you'd be able to overclock the cpu with ease, but get a better cooler before doing that.

EDIT: Forgot to add that you could also probably go with a cheaper motherboard unless you want it to look really awesome. Not that I have anything against the Crosshair IV Extreme, I just think that it's a bit pointless and you could save some money without sacrificing much.

This kind of hardware and generic 1333 RAM!?
Nononono
With this kind of budget you could get 1600Mhz RAM and an SSD and 1090T and decent parts, with AM3+ expandability, or go LGA1155
post #7 of 17
for a single gpu 600w psu will be fine
for 2 cards sli/crossfire you may need 800+
post #8 of 17
if your going to skip out on ram, i would pick a cheaper motherboard.

Go with Intel I5 2500k . Much better than AMD X6.

No need for the 1100T... If you go with an X6 get a 1055T for $150 or less and OC the crap out of it
