AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.9GHz (OCed)

Thread Starter
So, I got it to overclock at 3.9 ghz and run at 48-49C. I tested it with prime 95 and intelburn test.

I am very new to overclockin and I was wondering if someone could help me reach the 4.0-4.2 ghz range.

Here are my current settings:

What are settings should I be looking at?

And I have these sticks of ram:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231311

Should I overclock the ram also? and how? and to what clock speeds?

What type of CPU cooler do you have?
Hi, iv just replyed to you on toms hardware forum lol. Below is what I wrote

Hi, try cpu ratio x20. If it dosent boot, add (in small increments) voltage to the cpu voltage but do not go over 1.55v AND make sure you have a really good cooler not the standard amd cooler. Also CPU/NB voltage to 1.25v and nothing over 1.35v (if everything is stable at 1.25v, drop your voltage down alittle and test again until it bsod or freezes etc).
Looking at your memory set your timings to 9-9-9-24 2N(or 2T) at 1.5v and your ram speed to 1333mhz.

Hope this helps and if you need any more advice im more than happy to help.

forgot to mention, do not try to clock your ram as of yet until you are certain that your cpu cannot go any further in higher clocks. Once youve reached your maximum, you can then go on to set your cpu/nb frequency and tighter you memory timings at that would result in a better performance than a faster speed clock with loose timings.

Have you tried increasing the multiplier any higher, and if so, what was the result?

Have you tried upping the voltage a little bit and booting again?

Also, for what it's worth, a lot of people on here say that increasing your NB frequency will have a greater effect on performance than say, going from 3.9GHz to 4GHz. I do know that when I went from 4GHz to 4.25 on my 955BE the only real difference I noticed was that it ran slightly hotter.

yeah im still in the process of raising my voltages and trying it out.

How much should I raise my NB frequency?

And should I also try and raise my CPU-NB voltage?

Could you tell me what your voltages and nb freq are? thanks.

It seems like a lot of people shoot for between 2600MHz and 2800MHz for their NB frequency. Mine is at 2800MHz with 1.2v, but yours could be totally different. My understanding is that the maximum NB voltage is the same as the maximum CPU voltage (1.55v?) but I've never taken my CPU higher than 1.44v, or my NB higher than 1.2v, so I don't know what kind of heat it would generate with higher voltages.
