i dont know about the MSI HD6950 compared to the one i picked though, its about 40-50 dollars more for a mere margin of an increase in performance. though seeing as im not planning on eyefinity or resolutions above 1920x1080 i could probably go for a 1gb version and save myself some money though it's practically the same price for the lowered 2gb version though, and i could if lucky flash this to a 6970. i guess i could do that with the MSI one too though if lucky.

u cant unlock the 1gb version,
only 2gb version can be unlocked to hd6970,
hope this helps u

in gaming you wont really see any differance at 1900x1080

I kmow people love intel but amd is cheaper and the mobo will be cheaper most of the time

note:I hate intel and will always use amd so my opnion my b bias lol

I'm also an AMD fanboy,but I dont mis-guide people like u,
i5 2500k much much much faster than any phenomII x4

well fanboy or not I'm just wondering if the i5 would actually be worth it, it's almost a pure gaming rig save for the tiny amount of work I'm gonna do in a game engine(and of course watch movie's and stuff like that but that should be a non-issue) so I'm just wondering if it's worth the price, and of course the difference in being ready for the future.

like i said I'm not gonna extreme OC it.

that's why i need to figure it out, if i werent on a budget i'd go for the i7/i5 probably but with the budget and the current price on monitors the AMD looks good aswell.

i5 2500k is currently the best price-performence cpu,it definitely worth the pric tag,go for it

Bestemt, tag i5-2500K.

dont think i mislead him at all i said the i5 is faster but the 965 be is 150 at micro center i bought one,and the higher the res the less differance there is at 1900x1080 its 5 fps in favor of i5 really 5frames? does it matter if ur already above 40 not to me or most human eyes, and yes im an amd fanboy but dosent mean im wrong or misleading
post #16 of 26
and as i said its MY OPINION,if ur doing more than gaming which the op said he isnt than id go for i5,but for gaming i personally dont see the point in throwing away money for a lil extra performance i dont need or will ever notice unless i sit there and stare at fraps lol not tryin to dis anyone jus dont think i mislead anyone biggrin.gif

OP lives in Denmark, Europe, so it's a bit troublesome.

The 2500K is generally much better and doesn't cost much more. About 33% more than a PII X4 955.
Gaming or not, it's a splendid buy, isn't it ? Not to mention it's wide OC range.
More future proof.

If you want to OC then you want 2500K with a P67 board, the Asus board you have there isn't a board that have proven big OCs though. Since you gaming only get 4 gb but get 1600mhz ram for better OC, anything over 4 is useless for gaming.

ya i didnt see he lived in denmark i guess the micro center thing is useless to him,and yes the i5 is faster in every catagorey but in gaming at high res not so much of a differance ur right as far as a future proof but they way I look at it an am3 board will support am3+ so im looking forward to that,And personally i think there both great cpus,I just always root for the lil guy (amd) lol,I KNOW its kinda dumb but the more power a company has (intel) the more im inclined to go for the other lol I also hate EA for the same reasons
