Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6

Thread Starter
Had a look to see if htere was a thread for this board but nothing obvious
anyway picked up this board from ebay last night, to replace my flaky asus p5n-d.
I was only ever able to get 4004 out of the p5n-d with my e8400

how sweet is this board, booted up last night at stock everything, checked cpu-z and saw my processor was idling at just over 1v and 28 degrees c! so i did a few prime runs just to check stock was good and it was, the motherboard raised voltage slightly and my peak temp was something stupid low like 41 degrees !!

So
onto overclocking
3600 was breeze didnt change a thing bar fsb

now, todays boot, 4050 with ram running 900, locked the pci-e to 100, upped the mch and fsb by one notch, processor is at 1.265 core (little over stock)
3 hours of prime blend and an hour of gaming (crysis 2 and shift 2) peak temps of 50 degrees wow!!

on my p5n-d i was at 1.4v and hitting 60 degrees!!!

dam good start, anyone got any tips for this board?
also, once the vcore was manual i see the moboard isnt dropping the vcore at idle anymore.. is this by design?

i guess my ultimate limit is my memory, 1060 rated and thats at a push

Not really how good the P35 chipset is but rather how crap nForce 6/7 is (with the exception of 790).

update
running 4230 (470 fsb) with memory at 2.4
7 hours tested prime 95 blend 55 deg c max
memory 2v, core 1.29v fsb and mch stil lonly 1 notch up from stock
dam this board rocks
THink im having fsb issues as after that lots of errors, even though ive tested the memory beyond what im running, no amount of v core seems to help, guess its more mch or fsb volts to get into the 500 range

nVidia 775 motherboards are crap compared to Intel P35/P45 boards... I remember early in 2008 when I upgraded from a Asus P5N-E SLI to a Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3R. My God what a difference!

I took my Q9550 @ a best of 3.29ghz. on a P5N-D to 4.0ghz on an EP45-UD3R
The P5N-D was able to run my E8400 at 4ghz. but for some reason it just seemed snappier at 3.6ghz, the 750i as memory limitation issues and the P5N-D with it's 4 pin
CPU power socket has power delivery issues.
