How is this looking?

VCore is 1.392v with load

It has lower vcore but it runs as hot as my previous i72600k at 1.5vcore.

PLL overvoltage disabled

max multi 56x

56x multi is nice, but in your screenie core #2 has failed in the stability test, needs an adjustment in memory or a vcore bump....

LOL I mean it's a nice overclock but why would you post a fail stability test?!

Alright, I will retest and I can not believe I overlooked the failed core. eek.gif

Anybody know if the Made in Costa Rica i7's all have there own batch number as
most 2000 series i7's have a L0xx (Made in Malaysia) but this batch is 310A112. Wonder if this is were the golden one's are..thinking.gif

56x is way too hot anyway for HT and 4 cores with air.

Gonna reset my cooler to make sure it is not the reason for the heat at lower vcore.

This was a test I very carefully did at 56x.... knowing that if this OC failed my bios would reset with HT On and enable the other cores but keep the multi and voltage which would be blazing hot..... so I do not recommend trying this... not sure if water could even keep it within safe temps limits for stress testing... but I am gonna reseat my cooler to make sure it is a characteristic of this cpu....

where'd you purchase this chip??

I MUST KNOW... so far the good batches seem to be coming from amazon...

i have 2 microcenter 2600ks with no luck... bad batches that do 5ghz with ht on at 1.5v+

Jason,
Your findings are about the same as mine although my CPU runs a bit hotter than yours.

About 5C hotter with 0.01v more vcore.
I have a Costa rica chip too and it seems fine at 1.416v-1.428v load and 5 ghz, at least in prime. And runs like 10C hotter than my first 2600k which was L045A998 malay. That chip ran cool but needed 1.5v+ for 5 ghz...

And it's probably NOT your cooler.
Many low VID chips run hotter because they are more leaky.

Jason go into your BIOS and set it to x34 and find out the default VID for x34 (this is the voltage that "Auto" would set), as well as the default VID For 5 ghz. I'm curious as to what the VID is showing (should show this left of your selected voltage). Remember the VID is *NOT* The vcore shown in health monitoring.

Mine is I think 1.215v VID for 3.4 ghz and 1.3611 or 1.3711 VID for 5 ghz (one of the two).

you do realize that's just the "packaging," as in the IHS and the little green PCB, right? Intel has no actual ASIC fabs in Costa Rica or Malaysia...
