Are there any macro programming softwares I can look into?

Autohotkey, you can pretty much assign any macro's to your current keyboard without the need for extra buttons.

200 dollars on a keyboard can be justified if you're a programmer and you're typing away at the keyboard for hours on end. I would never pay that much since I game mostly, but I can understand that some people are willing to pay top dollar for something that they can benefit from.

As for mechanical keyboards go, if you're looking for macros, then the RBW is the way to go. Are you also looking for a specific feel to the keyboard? Certain switch types might be more to your liking than others and in that case, there can be several other recommendations.

If you do get a BlackWidow make sure you update the firmware to v1.05 asap. There's a known bug in the earlier firmware that might cause your keyboard to become bricked if you don't.

Yes, I've used AutoHotkey before for a Photoshop macro that brings up the color palette when I'm painting, but that is a very rudimentary function. How hard would it be to set up multiple macros and macro sets in a single script? Keep in mind, I am not very familiar with programming/scripting, though I'd be willing to give it a shot.

I haven't tried out any mechanical keyboards yet, but from what I've read and heard, the MX Blues are a good middle ground between gaming and typing, and since I'm not a very heavy gamer, that would probably be my best choice. As for the feel of the overall keyboard, I think I'd appreciate a more sturdy construction.

Autohotkey is OK but pretty buggy, especially in some games where it doesn't work.

That said I run it all the time on all my laptops/desktops.

Good news. I was finally able to get a script together with AutoHotkey that contains the macro sets I need. The problem I am having now is that...I can't find any keyboards to try out! I stopped at best buy, but they did not carry any black widows, let alone mechanical keyboards in general. I've searched my local craigslist area (Detroit metro) and I have not found any of the mechanical keyboards listed in the sticky thread for sale. I'm not sure what to do at this point, because I'd like to at least try one out before buying. Worst case scenario, I'll have to make a blind buy and hope the keyboard works for me. I think right now the Das, XArmor, and Deck keyboards are my top picks.

Ordered my Das Keyboard Professional Ultimate a couple days ago (with the awesome student discount of course), should be arriving later this week. Thanks to everyone for all the help!
