I doubt it'll make a big difference in terms of bringing down temps on the top card (unless of course you take your cards out of SLI mode), but since the 'master card' is just the one that the monitor is plugged into ... have you tried plugging your monitor into the bottom card?

I did but it just went black? do i need to restart or something?

I feel it will make a difference as the top card won't be used as much as the bottom I was looking at cpu usage whilst ingame and only 40% of the bottom card was being used whilst 90% was being used for the top card.

I was wondering the same thing. I have mine plugged into my bottom card. To get past the black screen, before plugging in the monitor go to your BIOS and select the 2nd PCI-E slot for Init display. In games that DON'T use SLI this will be the GPU used. My question is how do you change the card that is master when SLI is running, because the top card is still it. My top card is much less stable, less cool, less overclocked and often times the master card has a higher GPU utilization, so I want to make my other card master. However if I put it in the master SLI slot it can't take the heat
