Go to computer management and format it. Also, go into your bios and make sure you have AHCI enabled.

I think you can only bump a thread after it's been 24 hours; otherwise it's just double posing.

it wont give me the option of formatting it, it comes up as an unallocated, when i right click on it it only says convert to dynamic disk or convert to gpt disk?

sorry about bumping earlier

you need to initialize the drive first then you can create a partition ( use all of drive) then format that should help you. what do you intend to use this disk for? I would install the os on it personally

if you want to use it for your os, then you need to do a fresh install for best results. that is my recommendation to answer the other question, right click on the drive to do that. but if you install windows you won't need to do all this stuff ( and it will automatically enable trim )

Yeah, fresh install for best results.

He has already stated his aim for the ssd.

OP, double check you have both your sata cable and power cable correctly inserted.

Windows should recognize the drive when you boot from your install disk. Then choose to format drive before you create your partition on it. Windows will optimize it then for correct use.

If windows doesn't see your drive in the installer, cancel the installation and log back into windows to find a solution why.
