Q9650 for a QX9650 C1?

Thread Starter
Hello.
I need some advice. Should i trade my Q9650 for a QX9650 C1 stepping?
Since i cant OC my 9650 due to FSB instability on my mobo (All P5Q-PRO TURBO are known to fail with a stable OC beyond 450 FSB for quads)

Don't know if its worth it, im running 4.1 right now as is, kinda want more, always want more...

Id lose $20 max on this swap.
Let me know what you guys think.
PS: The chip would be on water like mine right now.
Thanks.

I'm thinking, Q9650 are E0 stepping, but then again unlocked multiplier can be a pretty neat thing...

Waste of time/money.....the Q9650 and the QX9650 OC to pretty much the same levels.

You would be better off getting a UD3P.

With a UD3P, I got my Q9550 E0 up to 4.53ghz, but I run 4ghz daily. IMO there really isn't much differance in performance from 4ghz to 4.5ghz in day to day operations.

Get a better mobo then....Like I said before, its a waste of time/money if you go the QX9650 route.

If they only made a QX9650 E0 before they EOL it . Hmm, isn't that the chip that had a unlock multi?

The QX9650's were known to run warm and not clock as well as the Q9650's....the stepping made a huge difference.

I know a couple guys in the P5Q thread that would disagree about that 450FSB limitation. . But yeah, it does get tricky over that area. Sounds like a good deal though.
