Is the AXP(accelero Extreme Plus, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835186043) compatible with the v1.1 board? Judging from some photos i've seen of 6970's and that cooler, I don't think anything would get in way of the heatsink, but I hope the vram heatsinks and the rest of the VR001 kit would fit on it. I was considering buying a 6970 and this cooler, so I'd like to know before i buy either.
On average, does anyone know if the v1.1 cards actually any better or worse than the v1.0 reference? What I mean is, they may be using some different parts, but does that actually impact overclocking?

Just got 2 Sapphire 6970. Although they have the SKU #of the reference cards, the model was changed from SR to SR2.

They bring the new pcb, but withouth bios switch.

What puzzles me the most, is that i fail to see any new pcb with all the phases as shown on this pic ( red pcb )

Powercolor, XFX, Sapphire ... none of the PCB's are using the 8 inductors ... but the mosfets and caps are there...

that's what i can't understand Maybe this was an early stage shot ... don't know... i've been searching and i had no luck finding any new pcb's with the full 8 inductors...

Nothing new here. XFX has been doing shady practices since the 48xx series cards (ever since they switched to ATI). This is why nobody likes them anymore.

And if you have a reference card, RMA it, they can send you their crappy cut back cheaper card with lesser features. They don't care. They think its the same performance, when its clearly not.

XFX is dead to me. I won't recommend their PSU's either, even though they're solid...just based off their CS alone.

i am really p****d off!

I orderd a 6970 in December and it was perfect! loved every second! so I thought I would Crossfire it.

I orderd a second card last week from the same supplier and it turned out to be a *****ty revision!

it's crap compared to the first card!

list of problems:

Noiser fan

No more metal cooling back plate

the card crashes in bechmarks when very slightly over clocked! (definatly not a heat problem and the original card is fine)

No twin bios switch!

Revised board!

I won't name the supplier as they have agreed to take the card back but I am extremly disapointed with XFX!

Just spent an hour of talking to diffrent suppliers so I could get hold of the old version to match the original.. finally found a card and it was the last old version they had!

I really really recommend using overclockers.co.uk to buy parts..

I'm going to be picking up a second 6970 soon and I'd prefer an original reference design (for waterblock purposes...since I already have a reference XFX 6970).
