We would like to apologize for any inconvenience that this revision change has caused anyone. I would like to clear up a few misconceptions about the revision 1.1 6970. The PCB used on this card is an AMD design that other manufacturers are using on their 6970s as well. It does not have an AMD logo on the PCB as the circuit board is made by us to their design. The components used on the second revision cards are not inferior in their ability to perform to the first revision. If there are any questions or concerns in regards to modifying the cooling solution to this or ANY other XFX product we would love the opportunity to discuss it with our customers. You can reach us at 800-880-3225 or through our support page at www.XFXFORCE.com.

What puzzles me the most, is that i fail to see any new pcb with all the phases as shown on this pic ( red pcb )

Powercolor, XFX, Sapphire ... none of the PCB's are using the 8 inductors ... but the mosfets and caps are there...

that's what i can't understand Maybe this was an early stage shot ... don't know... i've been searching and i had no luck finding any new pcb's with the full 8 inductors...
I guess this clears things up.
Maybe this thread should be locked now?

It's strange that they haven't even updated the 6970 pics on their own site. http://xfxforce.com/en-us/products/g...ries/6970.aspx The AMD logo is still there near the PCI express slot.

I have the newer all black shroud with fake keyslot sapphire 6970 with the new revision pcb. I was playing with it last night and got Unigine Heaven to run without artifacts with the core at 960 on stock volts. It was also stable for several minutes in gpu tool with no artifacts. I also bumped the memory to 1475 with stability in gpu tool. Temps maxed at 62 with the fan at 50%. Ambient temp was around 24. Obviously, I need some real world use and benchmarking to back that up, but its a good start. I'm going to push it further this weekend.

Maybe the new pcb isn't that bad. Granted, there are differences in the xfx and sapphire pcbs. I like how the xfx guy said the parts are not inferior to the performance of The original. He didn't say the parts themselves weren't inferior...but it does have the TI drMOS which is supposed to be great, right?

Anyway, mine is the sapphire 100311-2sr. At least sapphire changed the cooler and the model number. I have a post on it.

Breen... maybe you should rephrase this:

Quote:
I have the newer all black sapphire 6970 with the new revision pcb.
to this

Quote:
I have the newer all black cooler sapphire 6970 with the new revision pcb in blue.
Just because, the all black sapphire, ppl can associate to the "all black pcb"
