Nvidia 270.51 question

Thread Starter
I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue as me. I have 2 EVGA GTX 460 SE's SLI'd and for some reason when I install the beta drivers for Nvidia 270.51 it sets all of my clock settings to the lowest setting. I would check EVGA Precision and everything would be set to like 50Mhz and it would not allow me to change them.

I'd really love to use these drivers, I keep hearing good things about them, just curious if anyone else has the same issue or a fix for it.

Have you tried a clean install? if that hasn't worked I would use driver sweeper and install them again.

I did not do it on a clean install. But the 2 times I tried it, I uninstalled the previous drivers and reinstalled the new ones. Maybe I'll just wait till the actual release comes out, although it would be nice to use them.

Those drivers work great for me and I would take a guess and say that maybe Precision is giving you false info? Have you tried MSI Afterburner yet? If not you should install it and see if it matches what Precision is telling you, it is also a way better program than Precision.

I assume precision is correct because when I try to play any game it crawls. I could try MSI afterburner hmmm.

Well if it is actually affecting your games then it could possibly be something else. (Though I still recommend MSI Afterburner over Precision) When you install the Nvidia drivers, make sure you choose the clean install option. Also, as mentioned above it might be a good idea for you to try using driver sweeper as well to remove any old instances of the Nvidia display drivers.

Ya I might give MSI afterburner a go, although my cards are overclocked to their maxed settings on air which is fine for me. I usually do clean install. I did run driver sweeper but I got nervous because I wasn't 100% sure how to uninstall things, I wasn't sure if it was like a "cleaner" program that I should check everything or not, so I strayed away from it.

Good thing you are cautious but honestly at worst you may have only needed to re-install a few things. All you need to pick in driver sweeper are the two options for the NVIDIA Display and NVIDIA PhysX options. When it is done just reboot. If you want to give it a go again here is one way:

~Uninstall NVIDIA drivers from programs and features in the control panel
~Reboot then run driver sweeper choosing the two options for NVIDIA Display and NVIDIA PhysX, reboot when prompted.
~Once your back up and all is well then start a fresh install of the 270.51's

Should be good to go after that.
