You won't get $700-800 worth out of that card if you're just benching unless you've got thousands of dollars to spend on other hardware to run benches using different setups.
Otherwise, if OP feels the need to get it for benchmarking on just his system, it's not a smart investment, and the funds could be allocated somewhere else to give him a more enjoyable experience unless all he really cares about is stroking his e-peen.
Yeah, it's definitely not a smart investment, but he's way beyond practicality at this point. The same goes for most of us too
When I had my 590 it was running at horrendous frame rates (which is normal) when benching 3dmark 11 at Extreme Settings. Heaven maxed was running at the low 40s too if I recall correctly and Metro fully maxed out was running in the high 30s in some scenes and microstuttering made it feel like it was in the low teens.
If he wants to bench, why not let him? I agree it's a waste of money, but who here doesn't waste any?
