I have a 32" Sony Bravia HDTV as well, and it's poor for PC use compared to a real monitor. However, mine is 720p (1360x768), and yours seems to be 1080p (1920x1080), so I imagine that makes it much more acceptable. The poor clarity due to the large size and low resolution in my case is why it looks so bad. Don't get me wrong, it looks "alright" for games and television, but for PC/Windows use, forget it. The text lacks sharpness/clarity. Even my 1600x1200 CRT is much cleaner with text, and LCDs are almost always clearer at text than even good CRTs, so I imagine a nice 27"-30" 2560x1600 LCD would just blow the HDTV away.

I'm the same way. I use 1600x1200 and ever since I moved up from like 1280x960, I stopped using my browser fullscreen. It's probably around the size of 1280x960 or so.
I don't see a problem with those who prefer it doing so though. Not everyone multitasks, so for them, the extra space is preferred, even if most sites don't need or even use it.
