XFX 5850 Artifacting?

Thread Starter
Hello OCN! My quest for overclocking has not finished.

I am now overclocking my xfx 5850[non-reference] which has stock clocks of 725/1000
I hit the limit imposed by CC at 775/1125.

I decided to test these new clocks before trying some mods to bypass these limits.

To my horror, playing some games/stress testing[OCCT] resulted in lines being rendered on my screen every so often.

What is this? Are these artifacts? I can't take a screenshot because everytime they appear, they last for less than a second.

I've heard of people taking the 5850 to 8xx/11xx on stock cooling/stock voltage so what is wrong?

Yes, it sounds like artifacting. Not every 5850 clocks the same, and if you have a non reference you probably don't have voltage control. Just dial in a lower clock that's stable.
