Advice with Gaming/Desing Laptop ty.

Hi! I need ur advice... u see after weeks of research, I desided to buy the Sager NP-8150, with the following specifications:

- Intel core i7 2720QM (2GHz)
- Display 15.6" HD
- nVidia GeForce GTX485M 2GB GDDR5 DX11
- 8GB en Ram
- 320GB 7200rpm
- DVDRW and bluetooth

Cost: $ 2867 (price from sager + money 4 the seller + shipping cost)

But... this week the Alienware R3 is available in Mexico (from where I from) with these specifications:

Windows® 7 Home Premium 64 bits
Alienware M17x Soft-Touch Stealth Black
Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2.0GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
1 year of home warranty
McAfee SecurityCenter, 24 months
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz (4DIMMS)
320GB a 7,200RPM
(DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
Display 17.3" HD WLED (900p)
2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeonâ„¢ HD 6970M
Wireless 802.11 g/n

Cost $ 2943 (is local so no shipping cost)

I know the Sager is the best laptop performance/cost, right now but I have some doubts:

* Which gpu is better for gaming/desing performance? I mean the two r exactly the same in performance 4 what I need (6970 vs 485)?
* The display is the same 4 me, but u think is worth it to try to get a 17" laptop, I was thinking the 8170. But is too expensive with all the extra cost (shipping, import, etc.) so the alienware is the best choice from me in 17"... but I was thinking I travel a lot so the 15" maybe is the best choice what do u think?
*How about the sager warranty? and how about the quality of the components from sager? any thoughts??
*And finally if u were in my position, do u think this is the best available choice?

the 6970M is 12% slower than the GTX 485m, you don't need 8GB of memory.

Both would easily play games at 1600x900, does the Sager have a 1920x1080 screen?

Yes they all have 1080p screens. You can't change that at all.

Mind you, if I were getting a near three thousand dollar laptop to play games on, I sure as hell would be getting at least 8GB of ram.

The 485m smokes the 6970m. The 485m is like an underclocked GTX 560 and the 6970m is like an underclocked 6850.

If you read the specs of the Alienware it says 900p so it's a 1600 x 900 laptop? I don't think he needs a laptop worth that much when he can get one with a GtX 460m that would run games fine.

I dont reccomend Alienware
I would get the Alienware under the guise of the full factory 3 year warranty.

In your location, our support sucks serious ass and the only real "safety" you'd have is the warranty.

That being said, Sager's CS isn't exactly better, especially in Mexico so, if it were me, I'd choose based on who had the most reliability where you're located.

Yes it has, the sager has a 1920x1080 FULL HD screen.
Why do u say 8GB of RAM is too much? I'm kinda try to build this Laptop something like Future proof, so 8GB I think is ok, don't u agree?

Sorry my mistake is like u said 2.2GHz and 3.3GHz in Turbo mode. Sorry

About the warranty, Let me check, but here in Mexico dell service is decent. I don't know about sager and besides the service is from US, let me check.

That's why I asked about Sager Quality COmponents... Has any one have had either good or bad experiences with sager products??
