Just got an OCZ Vertex 2 180GB

For $304, new from Newegg. Did I get a good deal? Lol, seemed like the best value there!

Using 151gb right now, and I've got tons of old games that I don't play anymore / files that can be on my backup drive since I don't use them. Vertex 2 / Raptor should be pretty speedy

Also any tips on how to set up my drives? SSD noob here. Anything specific to my mobo?

Thx!

don't ask whether you got a good deal after you bought it, because the answers you will get may not be the ones you want to hear, which will just lead to buyers remorse. Just enjoy it and dont look back.

Heck yea, you got it $30 cheaper then what I paid. Download SSD tweaker and google "SSD tweaks", theres some things you can free up to add up to 5 GB of space or more.

Oh my god I just installed Windows 7... it's SO freakin fast!!!!

I haven't even done any tweaks or anything yet. Or even installed chipset drivers/AHCI or whatever it is etc.

well, maybe you couldve waited for the vertex 3 to come out first

Lol I saw the Vertex 3 for like $1199 and was like hell no, I ain't spending that much money on a hard drive.

This drive is loading everything pretty much instantaneously. So I mean, you can't really do anything FASTER than immediately

I'm installing all these drivers and things and once downloaded, they pretty much just instantly install themselves. It's amazing.

Windows is giving my SSD a score of 6.9... is this correct / near where it should be?

Hmm that seems a bit low imo since my Intel X-25M 80GB got 7.7. Did you update its firmware? Enable AHCI? etc..

I tried enabling AHCI in my BIOS and I BSOD.. can't get into windows.

SSD noob here, got it today. Been trying to read tutorials and stuff but it's not really working for me... drive seems plenty fast though either way.

I think u have to enable AHCI in windows (in Registry), then reboot and enable it in bios after.
