Hmm also i can't get the firmware to update past 1.29 with the OCZ tool they provide...

Sorry i can't help you with the firmware update because i've never used OCZ. I'm not sure if they allow you to use different tool other than the OCZ's one. I use Intel SSD toolbox to manage mine and i think u could use it for yours as well.
