LG E2770V, 27" IPS FullHD, 400$ - Page 4

This monitor isn't an S-IPS like Newegg.com reports. 16.7 Million colors, poor vertical viewing angle. And the power consumption that it takes up for a 27" screen.

here's LG's page, which gives no panel type.

PS - It may be a nuetered version of E-IPS or maybe a VA screen but definitely not a S-IPS.

EDIT: Though people here looking for IPS LG does have some in the 21-23 range that are SIPS plus LED on amazon, the LG IPS226-PN and LG IPS231-PN

It seems to be a new IPS panel. Not e-IPS. Not S-IPS.

I'm not bashing your decision, but on paper it doesn't look so good.

This is what I'm thinking.

I wouldn't get my hopes up, but good luck.

So i chatted with a LG rep this afternoon asking if he knew what type panel this monitor has. He had no idea (LOL) then he told me it has TN panel after 30mins chatting and 3 times went to check the specs. After that, i chatted with NE's rep and asked him what type of panel this monitor has, he told me it's IPS according to what LG told NE. He also told me that NE will pay all shipping + will give me a gift card if the monitor turns out to be a TN (then NE advertises wrong spec). Can't wait to see!

After digging some sources, i think the LG rep was wrong and clueless. This monitor indeed has IPS panel (just not sure which) according to this and this. Also the panel is a a brand new IPS panel LG made for the E2770V.

Edited: It will arrive on tuesday, i was hoping for monday . It's one HEAVY monitor 20lbs ! I think this Samsung 27" that i'm gonna return is only around 9lbs or something, very light compare to that LG.

It is surprising how clueless people who work with support for techcompanies are. I bet the most average guy on this forum have more knowledge and would do a much better job.

This review will be something really intresting cause it appears to be a totally new IPS panel. LG doesnt now whether to call it e-IPS or something else so apperently this will be different from e-IPS as well.

Still am optimistic but we will have to wait until tuesday before we get the answer whether this is a bargain or not.

Bleh. Ive seen the 23" version at best buy. The fact that its an LED panel ruined any gains made from being an IPS panel. The colors are way too "cool", and still have a lot of digital vibrance added. And its only 1080p, so its not going to be nearly as sharp as a 23".

Decent price none the less for a 27", but i would avoid all together.
