[GeForce] DICE to Focus on the PC with Battlefield 3 - Page 6

It pains me to see PC gamers with this mentality. They let their emotions get the better of them when there's plenty of proof that should ease their doubts.
Yeah, if it was going to be another console port I doubt they'd be pissing off all their console fans by telling them it just won't be the same as PC, and cutting the player number all the way to 24.

It's about time we get some DX10/11 games from the ground-up. BF3 has the potential to change the triple A PC game market, at least IMO.

This is the biggest reason I worry about BF3. DICE knows full well that BC2 was good enough to get sales from PC gamers.

It was based on a console-oriented engine. It was based on console-oriented input mechanisms. It was based on console-oriented gameplay.

But because they ported it over with just enough care for PC gamers' concerns, we bought it right up.

They could easily do the same thing with BF3, just as Crytek did, because DICE knows that, unlike Crytek, they can pull off the console-to-PC port workflow.

CE3 is a console friendly engine from the beginning. The size of BF3 as reported has to be scaled down on consoles. 64 players and super size maps should tell you there will be two different versions of the game. Crytek never showed PC footage of Crysis 2 while we have seen pure PC footage of BF3 with PC commands/controls.

There's nothing to worry about since you can buy or not buy the game.
Crytek's failure is relative to them and shouldn't be the standard by which we judge DICE.

How many times will people from DICE have to explicitly state that they are developing PC first? That the engine has been completely rewrote (more than likely with a PC first priority)? That the console versions will come 2nd and be scaled down from the PC version?

Unless you want to believe that they are blatantly lying in these interviews..

Lest our hopes for an amazing pc first game be dashed, DICE will rue the day, but until then all sources point to greatness and PC first.

Way to go DICE.

I hope they never become another Infinity Ward or Activision or Crytek. We looked to them to help us save our dying platform and they end up treating us as like an annoying afterthought.

Even John Carmack (who I always looked at like a rock star in PC game development) seems to have somewhat forsaken us. At least when ID and Bethesda drop Rage on us later this year I already know it will be a port. And as much as I am sure that BF3 will be visually awesome, I know that Rage will be a ton of fun.

Just do me a favour and put your money where your mouth is instead of making claims with no proof and not following up on them.
So if we have it your way, I won't get to play BF3?

NEVER heard anything from Crytek about making crysis 2 PC first. I only saw it would come out on consoles and nothing else and look what happened.

Why would I care if they release a watered down version that can't be played at higher resolutions or with more players, have fun consoles

Guess I'll wait and see.
Think about it this way.

DICE has a very respectful history with making great PC games (1942,Vietnam,BF2)

BC2 sold more on the PC then consoles.

From DICE's standpoint, it would be clear to try and make this game as PC orientated as possibly (ya right eh?) as they majority of their loyal fans are PC gamers. And with COD getting bigger and bigger, they can't compete with the console FPS competition (even though COD is horrible in every way possible).

Short Story: From an economic standpoint, PC first is a good idea. And we know how working people don't like money .
