Take a few deep breaths, and blow into those slots until you nearly pass out... repeat as needed, or until you see stars. biggrin.gif

Seriously, I just had this problem, and some stiff blowing seemed to cure it. lachen.gif

Also, as the others have stated, make sure the ram contacts are clean as well.

This could look a little odd for family members, but I guess i'll give it a shot.. Brb cool.gif

And of course make sure it snaps back into place when re seating mem chip. Use only original 1gb stick too.

You're right, it sure was dusty, but it's still beeping :|

P.S Note to self: Don't inhale when your head is still buried in the dusty domains of a computer case.. You might get a little dust in your mouth

How exactly do the beeps sound? I found the manual with the beep codes for your board.

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-m61sme-s2l_2.0_e.pdf

It says 1 long beep and 1 short beep for memory error.

Continuous short beeps = power error

Power Error? Could that possibly mean that the PSU is not connected to something correctly, e.g the hard drive?

The beeps are like 3 medium length beeps.. then a small pause.. then constant medium length beeps

Didnt knock anything lose? Your big 24 pin connector or 4 pin connector would be the main ones. Maybe re plug them in. Also make sure cpu fan is plugged in.

It says continuous long beeps would be graphics card not inserted properly.

The CPU fan is spinning, I can see that.

As for the hard drive, the 24pin is connected fine, as are the 2 cables attached to the HDD itself as far as I can see.

I am genuinely clueless as to what else I can do. My mother said she would take it to her dads neighbor tomorrow and see if he can locate the problem, however I would like to avoid that as I imagine it's going to cost a fair amount of money..

what motherboard are you using?
I simply can't wrap my head around the battery not being removable. Mine's hard to remove but all i have to do is squeeze the 'clamp' like thing on it
