Total N00B to watercooling... here's my setup

Thread Starter
I already had an H70 cooling my cpu and I was tired of my GTX470's sounding like blow dryers. I wanted a silent pc and got it with water cooling I didn't want to spend too much as I had already spent tons on the computer. I went with the XSPC Rasa 750 RS360 kit. I then ordered EK Waterblocks for the cards. Install took about an hour and I didn't leak test anything... maybe I'm tempting fate but 48hrs later everything looks good. Here are some pics:

fan controller: I wanted a way to control the radiator fans for silence, they are running at 690rpm right now and temps are great.

Original Setup: speeds are great, sound is horrible

overnight delivery from germany, frozen cpu would've had me wait 30 days

Pump and Res: It came with some water inside ***... figured they all came like that

Taking apart one of the cards: TEDIOUS

and the finished product:

also managed to pick up a 3rd monitor and G25 on craigslist

overall, good fun, looks like a hobby I can get into... in the next few weeks I'll be redoing the loop. I should've bought a 45 degree fitting for the bottom card, and better hose.. I can already see this hose discoloring and it's only been 2 days. Moral of the story: If I can do it, so can anyone else, it might be scary... but it's totally worth it. I now have a silent pc and the cards idle at 30c and never go over 50c. Big difference from 95c and fans sounding like hair dryers.

You should ditch that H50 and stick an EK HF block on there.

Great first step into WC. Welcome to H2OHHHHH!

Edit: is that 7/16 tubing over 1/2 barbs?

yeah I think when I redo the loop I'll get rid of the H70... I already have the Rasa Block sitting on a shelf. Yeah that is 7/16 over 1/2

the rs360 rad should be able to handle the cpu and 2 cards right?

H70...my mistake.

It should...what fans are those? RS rads are designed for use with higher speed fans iirc.

Hey buddy you have a nice setup with 3 monitors.
Get rid of H70 because the temps are going to be stupid.
If uhave a single loop running all the way your temps are going to be better.
Res>pump>rad>CPU>gpu
I too just returned the h70 back.
Make sure once you pick out the tubing 7/16 as a precaution get some thin. Wire ties to hold the tubing in place of 1/2 barbs. Even if it's a tight fit, it only takes warm/hot liquid to loosen and slip them off.
Mine did during a routine maintenance.
I have pictures of my setup here on the forums describing the change from h70 back to my usual self.
Hope it helps

RS radiators are about like the Swiftech Quietpower series...13 FPI if I remember. I'm running 2xRS240 and 1x1QP120 in my setup, and the radiators are surprisingly good. I also vote to slap the Rasa block in there. For the price it's good...tad restrictive to me, but very good temps overall (no worse than a Swiftech block). The EK video card blocks are not very restrictive (I have the FC6970).

As a bit of safety, I would put hose clamp zip ties on at the least, or worm clamps. I run silicone tubing (more prone to slipping off), but the zip ties are plenty, and held up to 50 psi leak tests.

All of this reminds me that I need to post pictures of my water rig.
