MSI bios chip malfunction!!!

Thread Starter
For the last month I have been buying parts to build my new rig.

I got a mobo from newegg, mid range that can support dual graphics.
MSI 870-G45

Every week more parts continued to come in,
Computer case, ram, graphics, power supply, disc drive.

As these parts arrived I assembled them into the case.
This made the task less tumultuous.

Finally I bought the processor Phenom 1090T.

I installed it and to my surprise the computer booted and functioned without any problems (or so I thought)

The system loaded the MSI pre screen, then loaded the MSI boot screen, then began to load windows.

As windows 7 began to load the "starting windows" image loaded and the windows animation began to load but before it could complete the computer blue screened then restarted.

I called MSI and after talking with three different techs they informed me that my BIOS chip was faulty and that I should return it.

What do you guys think?

Try updating the bios.
If you already done that do it again.

The situation was weird bc the MSI boot screen said that the CMOS battery was low. So i purchased a new bat and after resetting, the board still claimed that the bat was low.

When I tried to load the boot menu the mobo said that it was loading but nothing happened.

This situation was so disappointing, I have been waiting so long to PLAY!

I had a 790FX-GD70 in 2009 that absolutely refused to POST after 3 months of having it (no OC), and the BIOS chip would not reset. It finally did, and then froze again..had to RMA the board, got it back a couple months later, and it was working fine, until 3 months after that when a DRMoS blew up. BIOS chip going bad does happen, which makes less sense why they would be soldered onto a board instead of socketed.

Really don't recommend running a 1090T on this board to begin with...

Newegg had good reviews on this board.

has anyone had any experience with this brand?

I have and asus before, liked it but I was angry that it didn't support the first series phenom had to buy a bs processor just to load the new bios to start the dang thing.

I dont like MSI support at all.

Hopefully ASRock will be good?

RMA!
"MSI" was a nice brand untill they renamed it to "msi".

Get Gigabyte UD3+ not Asrock.
