I would have to say this is most likely false news.

A six inch touchscreen is going to cost $$$. And no one looks down at the controller to look at a screen.

I am very doubtful that the controllers will sport a touchscreen.

I really doubt Nintendo is dumb enough to come out with a triple-core Wii 2 with a 4870-type graphics card and 512MB of RAM. Plus an expensive and odd (in an inconvenient way) controller.

I am actually betting there will be better specifications on their "Wii 2", at least in terms of RAM and the GPU. I'm also betting they won't release it next year (I bet 2013). And I finally bet they'll have a much more interesting controller scheme.

I don't think that simply because it's an upgrade over current Wii hardware it should be touted. The Wii had marginally better hardware than the gamecube, the GPU still stunk.

They should be raising the bar. Whatever Sony/MSFT come out with, it will be top-of-the-line as it was when each respective previous generation console was released.

The wii, on the other hand, takes a completely different approach. Indeed, it's much more profitable but from an enthusiast standpoint it still is disappointing to see dated hardware in a next-gen system.

It says the console will include a custom IBM PowerPC CPU with three cores, a GPU from the ATI R700 family with a shader unit at version 4.1, and at least 512Mb of RAM.
with that said, the Wii 2 SHOULD SUPPORT DX10.1 because R700 family supported it!
i hope it has a 4770+ in it :/
if it has anything less than a 4670 i'll personally kill Nintendo.

I find it funny how they name their projects silly things that have no real meaning.

Project: Dolphin

Project: Revolution

Project: Cafe'

They just need to call all of them "Project: Money-printer"... then maybe they could just number them with roman numerals. Because roman numerals are nifty-keen.

Revolution was the wii correct? Was pretty revolutionary for the gaming market.

Cafe might be more geared for casuals.

Dolphin, I UUUUNNNNOOOO?

Gamecube resembles a dolphin.
Can't you see the resemblance?

Don't forget about Ultra 64 (which was the original name for the Nintendo 64).

But the Wii isn't an enthusiast's console in the least...

That little purple cube kicked ass. Loved the controller too. I really just want a gamecube 2.0 with great online play. Is that so much to ask Nintendo?
