So what you are saying is,

We should really be worried about stories on "heat resistant bacteria"

I'm sorry, I quickly read Staphyloccacus and thought of snufalufagus...

Staph aureus produces a number of toxins, some of which are heat-resistant and will survive the cooking process. These enterotoxins produce vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

If the bacteria has lived on the meat and has secreted these toxins, cooking the meat won't matter. You'll still get food poisoning. This is the danger behind allowing bacteria to exist on our foods, especially Staph aureus.

Glad to see mainstream media on OCN, just can't get enough doubt and fear out of CNN and NBC. Always good to have an excess of bull$#@t.

This isn't really creating doubt and fear, its merely pointing out that these bacteria are in our food. As you can see from most of the comments most people aren't concerned all that much and even the article points out that while most of the bacteria will be neutralized by properly cooking it there are some that are resistant. You can create a fear and or doubt conclusion if you want too but that definitely wasn't my intent.

This IS something to worry about, it's a milestone on the road to a major disaster for us. We should use anti-biotic drugs responsibly and make sure that the animals we are raising are fed a balanced diet that prevents these kinds of bacteria.

I think the point isn't that we should be afraid, but that we are all stupid for causing this problem for ourselves by being irresponsible and waiting until we are on the verge of an epidemic until we make changes. Seems to be the way the human mind works.

It's ok, the rest of the population is being turned into zombies by mutant bacteria, I will get a good chance to put my zombie hunting skills to the test.
