2600K @ 4,0GHz + H70 = 45°C idle & 70°C on load - Page 4

I'm using an h70 on my system, my pump rpm's show 20. did you use the cables for the h70 where it allows you to put both fan power adapters into the board? What level of LLC are you using? I can't see the pictures as they are blocked at work. LLC 2 spiked my temps up 15+c.

There's nothing wrong with the H70 (technically speaking), but you may want to contact Corsair and see if they can do anything about this. It sounds like something may be wrong with your pump (especially if your radiator is staying cool at 70-75c).

I got nothing against people who wanna use standard tower heatsinks, full blown water cooling solutions or self enclosed loops.

The thing is though, you spent a good chunk of cash for this solution, and unless you can return or exchange it for something of the equivalent value, I would wager your best bet is to contact Corsair RMA cause there definitely isn't something wrong about the temps you're getting.

Also, I didn't ask this before, but what thermal compound are you using to reapply on the heatsink, and what methodology are you using?

CM Hyper 212+ if you want tall RAM clearance, and its cheap. Very cheap. Probably one of the best $$ per C ratios. Some were even available for less than $30. Might hurt you at 5 ghz, but should be good if you can go up to 4.5 ghz and stay below 1.35v at full load.

TM Silver Arrow, Venemous X, Noctuna offerings, Prolimtech offerings: great for temps at high voltages, but may have various RAM clearance issues for the first and second banks.

And yeah...what thermal compound are you using?

The hottest core on my 2500k is always like 46c. (at idle) Bothered me at first but its always been like that after multiple installs. Load is like 66c in prime.

This is with my chip at 4.4/1.28v

First time i just used the one that comes with the H70 already on the plate

After that i try re-seating the pump and i have been using a generic one i think (from RadioShack)

What termal compound should i buy?

I would assume that based on the 1400RPM, that you have the pump plugged into the CPU fan header (H70 pump runs 1400 -1450RPMs). The fans themselves should be running at 2000 -2100 RPMs if you haven't installed the two resistor wires. With the wires 1600RPM.

My gut feeling is that the fans are plugged into the Chassis fan header, and the fans are only running at a very low speed due to the motherboard not being very warm.

OP, go into Q-fan in the UEFI, and disable Q-fan for the CPU fan, and the Chassis fan. That will at least get the fans and pump running at full speed. By default, Q-Fan is enabled.

When I was using the stock H70 fans, idle was around 26-27C. I've since changed the fans to Akasa PWM fans that slow to 600RPMs at idle, and my temps are still only 30C. defenitely something going on there.

FINALLY!!! I got a brand new thermal compound (Arctic Silver) and now i can run at 4.5Ghz 38c~ idle and 66c~ at full load using prime95!!!! i can't believe a thermal compound would make such difference! i still think its a bit high temp for just 4.5Ghz at vcore 1.25 but still its a HUGE AND GREAT PROGRESS!!!!!

So, anyways, thanks a lot for all the replays and suggestions! you guys rock!!!!!

PD:
Now that i have fixed the high temp issue (at least it drops a lot of c) can anyone help me a bit on how to adjust my settings in order to get a best overclocking profile?
So far i have set my memory (Corsair Dominator GT 8GB) at 9-10-9-27 2T which are the right settings. But im not really sure about anything else.

These are my specs:
- 8GB RAM Corsair Dominator GT
- MOBO Asus Maximus IV Extreme <REV 3.0>
- I7 2600k
- 750w PSU Corsair
- 896MB NVIDIA 275gtx OC

I guess thats it...
Also, running my proc on 4,5Ghz with those temps its going to work? or those temps are still too high and could damage my i7? (at 38c~ idle and 66c~ full load)

THANKS!

I'm glad you fixed that.

Your temps at 4.5 ghz and 1.25v are about the same as mine when I run a prime test in the evening (as long as it's not above 85F in my apartment), on a venemous-X. I'd get a lot better temps if I could keep the ambient at 75F, but that just isn't going to happen.

You could probably drop the temps by about 4C if you had some MX-3, MX-4 or chill factor 3 paste. I'm quite sure your ambients are lower than mine...

I have another problem now, i guess its my not-really-great-experience on the overcloking matter...
when running prime95 and doing some other stuff my computer freezes and i have to reset. I have read that when that happens i have to add a notch to the vcore and try again... right now im using vcore 1.35... should i add more to that or what the problem could be? thanks!!!!!!
