2600K @ 4,0GHz + H70 = 45°C idle & 70°C on load - Page 5

When you installed the h70 base onto the surface of the CPU, did you remove it for some reason or even lift it a little bit? This can cause small air pockets during install causing a loss of performance. (Not air in the water)

Check room temps. Check case temps. Check airflow. Reduce CPU voltage. Check pump is running between 1380-1400rpm.

No, i place it really carefully and only once (the very fist time and i get the temp issues)...
This problem is fixed already, i had to replace the thermal compound for a new one (Arctic Silver). That drop the temperature a lot.

And yes the RPM for the FAN is 1400 i have checked this at all times....

Right now my computer is freezing at random when runnning prime95 and doing something else.... something else = Dragon Age 2 lol

Dragon Age 2 is know to crash. Try playing something more stable, maybe Crisis or BFBC2?

As far as crashes go, looks like you need more vcore or to adjust the other settings. I'm not familiar with the Sandy Bridge processors so that's about all I can suggest.

rzumbado : a smidgeon more Vcore, or there's lots of other settings to tweak. The main thing is : don't accept instability. Clock it back to 4.3 if you have to, but be SURE it's stable. Nothing worse than having an occasional crash.

When I overclocked my i7 930 6 months ago, at first I didn't have enough Vcore and I would get an occasional BSOD. About once every other week, so it was annoyingly intermittent. I finally gave it more Vcore and I've had no BSODs or hardware lockups of any kind for over 6 months. As stable as can be. That's what you want.

I'm at 4.1 ghz btw.

I ran about 48 hours of OCCT testing and about 12 of prime95 to be SURE it was stable - you should do something similar.

Now, is your video card overclocked? Are you using beta drivers for your video card? Playing dragon age 2 like that, it's possible that the cause of your lockups is the video card. Try to reproduce the problem without prime95 running.

with a 212+ i get lower temps at 4.4 with a 2500k, how hot is it in your room?in your pc tower do you have extra fans for air flow? my pc idles at 25c full load its 62 and thats on air, you might have a faulty cpu, your temps should be lower than that

YIKES! i switch back to 4,5 using vcore 1.25 and still some BSOD with code 0x00000101, i google it and found out that i needed it a bit more of vcore so i set it to 1.26 instead.... i have being testing for over an hour now and everything seems working fine!!! WOHOOO!!!

So yeah, stability is all that we should care of.. and thats where im heading

Look at my temps right now using vcore 1.26 and 4,5 Ghz (i live in Costa Rica and here the temp is around 30c right now, yeah hot!, but temps are usually between 22c and 25c)
