5870 Crossfire Issues - Page 4

As most have said, i think you are cpu bottlenecked. I run a single 5870 and a 955 @ 3.8 and notice my gpu barely getting over 70% useage in several games. IMO, i would sell one of your 5870's and put that money into getting a 2500k setup. Selling your old stuff and one of your 5870's, i would think you could get a 2500k mobo and cpu without spending any extra money. It would be quite a performance boost in certain games.

I would rather have x2 5870's than x1 5870 and i5 2500k.

Honestly, I'd try to sell his Q9550 setup (cpu + mobo + RAM if it's DDR2) and grab a an i5 2500k combo

Im going to keep my 5870's. I might just end up reformatting as a last resort here. Maybe theres a driver conflict.
Ill run 3dmark vantage and report back my score. I have 5870's xfire and an i7 @ 4.0 currently and well see how the scores compare.

28k GPU

They're getting 23.3k on 5870 CF, stock, with i7 965 @ 3.75, with Catalyst 8.66 (very old).
Given your OC and driver updates/optimizations, 28k looks fine, assuming you're running Performance on Vantage (that's what they used for the benchmark).

Rest assured it will bottleneck a 5850 tri-fire, hell, it will even bottleneck a 5850 crossfire slightly (Not much, but a little bit).

But you'll be fine

Don't TriFire, it is pretty much worthless. That's why they did away with Tri and QuadFire MBs. Remember, only 16X 16X 1X is only possible. Go w/2X 5870s instead.

Okay well the cards themselves seem to be performing great.

I ran it on performance mode preset. 1280x1024 etc, untouched.

Someone with an i7 and 2 5870's want to compare?

I'll take it that 15k isnt a very great CPU score.
