I just got two cards, from amazon.com today, they look different. Look and feel super cheap. No BIOS switch.

I f***ing pissed. Im getting my money back. Anyone know of a brand that still has flashable cards?

Also the sticker holding the the anti-static bag closed was broken and another was added. Used or 'modified'?

Unlocking is a bonus not a feature.

You got the performance you paid for.

The other stuff might warrant a return though.

Honestly, i prefer the CHiL controller to the volterra, but that is just me...

Check to see who you ordered it through on Amazon. I just noticed that Amazon no longer sells the card and is now going through Circuit City. I belive what you have there are retail models. $299 is the retail price so that's the only thing I can think of. I'm starting to see a shortage of these cards as well. NewEgg no longer sells them (deactivated ) and I think that TigerDirect still has a few, but unsure on which model it is.

The ones I got where from Amazon.com, after I bought them the seller was CircuitCity for $299. I got mine for $270.

I may keep them, its just I was looking so forward to unlocking them...sounds exciting and to be a learning experience. I don't have a lot of knowledge is GPUs and their workings so not being able to bummed me. Once my cf cables show up I will give them a whirl and see if I will keep em.

I wouldn't cause you have no failsafe to fall back on. If you screw up unlocking it, the card is pretty much bricked.

Why would that prevent you from flashing the correct bios that you backed up before messing with it back?

I screwed up flashing a PCI ATI 8500 to a mac 8500 back in the day (turns out there never was a mac version with 128MB ram), flashed the correct bios that I had backed up from it before starting, and it still works.
