Fastest single core eyefinity 6 card?? 5870 still??

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter
Hey all, just for clarification an OCd 5870 is still the fastest single core eyefinity 6 card on the market right?

If it is, are there any rumors out there for when a faster single core card will be shipping?

Im running an xfx5870 running at 1100mhz core in an eyefinity 6 application and am needing more horse power. However the program this system is built for will only utilize a single GPU so a dual core card or Xfire are of zero use to me...
cost is of little concern, any ideas?

The 6970 E6 card is fastest. Iirc, the Asus Direct CU II or some such is the E6 card.

Are you not up to date? Think this question is very strange since the 69xx series have been released.

Alas iv been pretty buried in other projects to keep up to speed with the newest releases;

Awesome folks, So the 6xxx series has put the 5xxx series to rest finally, last time I had looked at things they had some slight advantages in tessellation but as for raw number crunching a high level 5xxx series card still put them in their place...

Any suggestions on the best manufacturer if im planning on putting a water block and or phase change unit on it?

EDIT:

Oh ****, hold on looks (from here) the 5870 still has it beat in FLOPS (which is what I need in my application)

You are very misinformed then.

Any reference card will do really, brand is personal preference.

CF scaling is superior as well.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon...6970-review/16 And this is with old drivers, 6xxx series have gained some nice performance increases since then.
