The worst one is if you play a game on a Large map it will crash a lil after you hit the industrial age.

Best bet is to start saving every other turn after year 1900.

They know about this bug but last time I checked their forums they didn't know what was causing it.

Yup been subjected to this torture many a time. Have only finished 1 game thanks to this. Mainly because after it happened a few times I got mad and stopped playing for a long while. At the time wasn't sure if it was my system or what causing it. Figured it out later it was the game itself.

Game is great with a few mods. Vanilla is meh to me. I am the type that likes huge sprawling empires and civ 5 does not lend well to this in vanilla. Civ5 tries to force you to be a small empire which defeats the purpose of playing larger maps. It really hurts if you take over other countries as well. Good game and just as addictive as all the others but not their best.

I bet when the first expansion drops it will correct a lot of this. I think they jut tried to change too much with this game compared to previous ones. Combat was a huge change and since launch has improved some.

I tried out the multiplayer for the first time today. It brings fun to a whole new level. One guy brought his warrior near my 2 cities so I warned him away. Then he got close to another players city and started attacking it. At this point I started building units and asked to team up with a different player. My ally lost his whole civilization but for one settler which he settled behind me for protection. The warlord returned with a scout. I asked him to go away but he insisted that he was simply 'exploring'. Then out of nowhere his scout demolished my iron workings so that I could not update my warriors to swordsman! He was a smart player and eventually crushed me and my aly, along with the other 3 players.

If you can team up with someone, the multiplayer is unbeatable.

Civ 5 is great, but I like Civ 4 just a bit better. I wish they kept religions in the game.
