Do bios Update on your board
Buy PhII 965
???

Profit.

Anyways the original Phenom CPUs were just plane crap. Unless you can get that thing above 3.0-3.2Ghz (doubt it) your going to have some bad bottlenecks...

I'm not worried about my "Epeen".

I would like to play Portal 2 though.

not to start any flame wars, but im personally a fan of intel. Costs more but i personally believe its worth it. However for gaming amd will suffice just fine.

I couldnt reccomend any amd, or i5 setups. only i7.

but now your looking at new board, ram, and cpu.

im a fan of gigabyte products for intel, never used one on amd. well i have, but a capacitors blew. K8 series Athlon though so its been a while.

ninja edit: listen to xeb, if your board/ram will use a 965 then by all means, decent cpus, they oc pretty well. plus ive heard him on the radio show so he sounds trust worth XD

im no amd pro, and only use it in budget customer builds.

955be with an 890 asus/gigabyte board.

i had the same problem last year, and got a 955be ( oced to 4.0 on a board with apparent vrm issues xD ) with an msi board.

this will stop the bottleneck.

otherwise check if your mobo is am2+, flash the bios and just get a new Phenom II series which can be oced to 3.0
post #30 of 85
umm, as previously mentioned, psu, mobo, ram, processor, and might as well do a monitor!

antec or corsair is my recomendation
as for the mobo/ram/cpu, that depends on what series, intel or amd.
monitor? the asus from my sig.

many good stuff can be had from the for sale section here on ocn. thats where i got my gpu and cpu.
