Extreme bottleneck with GTX 460 - Page 8

Thread Starter
What about upgrading my CPU to this?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ab=true&Page=2

Is it compatible with my MOBO?

Would there be less of a bottleneck to my 9600GT?

the 640 is only $100, do an effort. Both are compatible, you just need to update your bios.

I see!

What does a BIOS update consist of? Is this something the Motherboard manufacterer provides?

Yes, for the most part, they do. But you can find them elsewhere on Google.

A BIOS update is just to make sure your CPU is fully compatible with your motherboard.

640 or 645 is enough for the time being. You can always increase you cpu fsb a bit. Remember to keep that phenom heatsink. Athlon II heatsinks are ridiculously small. Just clean it and add some good thermal paste.

at least you will be able to rise the cpu fsb to 225, the problem will be that your ram will go 900MHz. That PSU is also not very reliable. So, if you don't need extra MHz's let it be.
