Like talking to a brick wall...

Thread Starter
Dont bother asking mint or ubuntu communities any questions that actually might involve some CLI or system files...

It really is like talking to a brick wall...

i had some simple questions about repos, and kernel name/version, and a couple other things... no one in the mint irc channel even knew what i was talking about... *facepalm* guess i wont bother wasting time with the LMDE xfce version even though it did look a tad interesting

and yes... im ranting -.- its rather irritating when i ask simple questions i have to rephrase six times and STILL not a single person in an entire irc channel even understands the question...
Kinda meh now...

asked why the mintmenu thing for their xfce set up takes 30mb of ram.... my debian set ups can take as little as 50mb for EVERYTHING loaded on start up so 30mb for just a menu seems ridiculous... that question was kinda outa curiosity of just what it was doing, like caching your entire /usr/bin folder or something ridiculous lmao

i also asked what repos it uses, like does it just use the debian testing repo, or does it mix in some mint repos, some ubuntu repos... just wanted to know what was in the sources.list file basically

was just curious what the selling point of LMDE over debian... it does look interesting and i may try it one day, but i sure aint going back to that community for any questions lol

I do that when I can literally type the question in google and get the answer on the first page of results. Maybe the first 3, depends, but usually that's it. =P

seems to answer all those questions pretty well...well except the mint menu thing, i honestly don't know anything about their special menu thing they use, other than it is a custom thing (more than likely it is not very well optimized?)

i think the "selling" point to lmde is that it is a rolling release, and its not "ubuntu"

Says in there it is based one testing which is Romeo and if u ever used debian Testing u would know its always being changed and it is alsostated its not compatible with Ubuntu so why would it use its repos or kernel?
