Asus Maximus IV: SPDIF/OUT not working.

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I'm having some problems setting up my sound system.
When I plug my optical cable in the SPDIF/OUT of my motherboard, it does not work. But when I plug my cable in the port of my screen, it does work?

Am I doing something wrong here? I also checked my Realtek drivers, they are all up to date.

Many thanks,
KaoZ

I hope i am correctly understanding your problem. Define "port of your screen"? I am assuming regular 3.5mm audio works, but SPDIF does not? If i had a misunderstanding, please clarify.

In the Realtek options you usually have to enable "enable digital out", or something like that. (I have creative so the options are a bit different).

Under "sound" in the control panel, there should be something like "digital audio device". You need to set that to default.

My sound card (see screen shot) does not actually have SPDIF/out, but has a digital 3.5mm out. I would assume you would set up a SPDIF VERY similarly.

If your still stuck, take relevant screen shots of "sound" properties in your Windows control panel or Realtek Control panel. Let me know if this advice was useful or not.

EDIT: Yes. I confirmed you set up SPDIF digital out the same way you set up 3.5mm digital out.

Wrong forum. Should be in the Intel Motherboards or Sound Cards and Computer Audio.
