(bump) Contrary to popular opinion:

Free: Comodo Internet Security
Paid: Bitdefender Antivirus

Believe me, those are the most tough AVs i know, Comodo because it is paranoid and block anything you run, Bitdefender since its just badass.

I use Avast along with some common sence! I like how low impact Avast is. Have been using it for around 3 years now and has done me well. MSE would be my next runner...who pays for interweb security nowdays

Like a girlfriend, an antivirus is something that you don't want to be, "paranoid".
BitDef is nice though.

I use MSE. Lightweight, easy to use.

Haven't gotten a virus in years though.

AV Test just did a test on anti-virus on Windows 7.

http://www.av-test.org/certifications.php

Comodo and McAFee are actually the worst surprisingly...
I use Security Essentials just because it's free and never has false positives.

Why do you say avast and avira aren't up to par? Is that your opinion or do you have something to back up your statement?
