HD2 or Captivate or Desire Z

Thread Starter
I was gonna buy a HD2 off ebay and put android on it but then I saw a few Captivate listings in for sale section.
Also there's a desire Z in for sale that I'm interested in.

Now I need your help to decide which way to go.

For HD2, I think its most customizable, android(custom roms), WP7 etc. and bigger screen.

Captivate has AMOLED display and native android, but I don't really know other stuff about it that trumps the HD2.
I heard that the captivate has some gps issues?

For Desire Z, my gripe is that I think its too thick and bulky(180gm)..
I would love the physical keyboard but for 180gm?
Also the screen is smaller(3.7").

So throw in your suggestions please!

I don't do a lot of messaging, should I go for the keyboard?
I'm coming from a dumb phone that weights 95gm, I have no experience with bigger phones.

I just don't like phones that feel like a rock in your pocket, if you know what I mean..

Then there is also the bigger screen in the other phones..

I hear the Captivate with Voodoo lagfix runs like a dream! The screen is also the best out besides the iphone4 Some people say it's better but that's more of a personal thing.

After all it's what you have to look at the whole time. Might as well enjoy it.

Is there some disadvantage if I go for HD2(android/wp7) instead of the captivate?
I'm ready to do any rooting etc. required.

I have the Captivate running Cognition 4.3 (custom Froyo ROM) with Voodoo Lagfix and it does run like a dream. With the OC/UV features of this particular kernel, my phone is running @ 1.4Ghz (up from 1Ghz) and undervolting gets me over a day with light to moderate use.

Ok, a run down of each phone, why'd you choose one ect.

HTC HD2:
-runs every OS known to man, basically the tinkerers dream
-big screen
-not overly thick
-HTC's build quality/feel
-incredibly cheap for what it is

Samsung captivate
-out of the 3 its the most superior hardware wise (no overclocking, the DZ beats it when you delve into overclocking)
-AMOLED screen, may or may not be to your liking (I hate how samsung does their screens, way too bright. I definitely prefer my HTC desire which does have an AMOLED screen as well)
-plasticy feel, but also light. You may prefer it though
-smallest dev community out of the 3

HTC desire Z
-Fair sized dev community
-overclocks to 1.5ghz-1.7ghz are common
-Physical keyboard
-HTC build quality/feel

Just a basic run-down of everything

Thanks for the post!

Most people say HD2 is old-gen, apart from the fact that it was launched some time ago, what makes it old-gen?

I'm just worried about the weight of the G2, don't really like heavy phones. Besides, I'll be using the phone in a country where high speed internet access is less likely, so the use of keyboard might not be enough to warrant its presence.

I really can't make up my mind..

The HD2 isn't all that old actually, its around the same performance of the other two phones. The only reason it is considered old is because it runs win mo 6.5 stock and the screen isn't the best(never actually seen one though).

Go into a store and have a feel of all of em, you may like the weight and size of a specific one, worth a shot. Plus, you can figure out of the kb is worth the extra $$$

If you can try to find a Captivate with a Super-AMOLED Voodoo fix now has a color fix for the "Overbright" issue.
