Hi Guys,
I want you to see my new rig and comment on how it will function as a gaming machine as I am a Hardcore gamer........
I actually needed a high performance computer exclusively for gaming.
I told one of the users of this forum but he commented that this is a " Not bad " build...... He meant the build is neither Good nor bad
I need others also to expresses their thoughts on my new rig ( I am going to buy it next month )....
Intel core i5-2500k
Nvidia GeForce GTX 580
ASUS P8P67 Deluxe REV 3.0 B3 edition
An LG or Samsung monitor @ 1920 x 1020
Coolermaster Sentinel Advanced gaming mouse
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
An 750 - 800 W PSU
NZXT Phantom Full Tower Chassis
8 GB Corsair DDR3 RAM
1 TB Hard Disk ( I have 1 Tb installed, therefore = 2 TB )
Other parts I have in my possession.
I am ready to spend around $2000 or Rs 1,00,000 for the above components, so if true, advice any other component that can fit my budget ( the above ones fit my budget ).
Also please explain me the " bottleneck " concept.....
Also I pre-inform that I am going to buy only Intel - Nvidia Combination
How much RAM(capacity and speed) that you will put?
May be you want to go SSD or RAID0 setups in your system. I noticed that my bottleneck now is my hard drives that are not in RAID0.. My booting is just a little faster than my previous system. Look at my signature for my system.

Nice boost in loading times for games, not as fast as an ssd but alot cheaper to
Good mouse you picked, the only mouse that has worked for over 2 years with me now.
If you ever want to go for SLI i would go for a 850W PSU
I take it you allready own some memory ?
If not corsair vengeance memory is kinda good for the price.
if i was going to buy a mouse, i would not get that one.... somthing in the lines of a good logitech or razer...
as in cpu and GPU setup... you will def not have a bottleneck there
i love my samsung monitors... so i would go for one of those over the LG
keyboard is a good choice
hard drive.... got a good one for the os... even if it ends up being a wd black 500gig or 640gig
the case is not my style.... and i am not to sure about how the cooling is on it but in the same price range you can get a haf 932... it is brilliant for air cooling and has loads of space for water and air cooling and has a nice cable management system as well. and loads of space for mods and extras.
that is just mmy small input... i hope you do not mind... i am also a gamer so i know what i like and do not like....
RAID0 is putting two or more hard drives together in such a way that when you do any form of read/write, the performance is doubled.
Example, HD A and HD B. If you copy and paste a file of 1GB, the 1GB file will be split into two 500GB files and simultaneously transferred to HD A and HD B at the same time.
But chance of data lost is higher in RAID0, the more hard drives the higher
an ssd for a boot/app drive, corsair or antec 850w for a lil future proofing. and basically raid 0 is using 2 hdds (at least) and as one hdd. it spreads the data across the 2 drives so that data access is faster because there is 2 data heads looking for the info. kinda 2 heads are better than one theory lol
RAID-0 refers to 2 HDD's installed as one unit, therefore increasing speed.
For $2000 budget-get the i7 2600k and a 64-128GB SSD for the OS drive.Actually the GTX 580 is way overkill for 1 1080P monitor.I would suggest the 560ti or 570.Save you money for something you might actually use.
raid 1 ; 5 ; 0 ; 50 ; 6 ; 10 and the list goes on....
raid o is taking 2 hard drives and miking it into one big drive
eg: 2 X 500 gig = 1000 gig meaning it works on both hard drives not on the one... write and read times are a little better
raid 1 that is taking 2 hard drives and making a copy of the other... that helps with redundancy called mirror.
if you are not to sure about it and computers etc... stay away from raid.... you will mess up somthings very soon if you like to tinker....
for a good solid choice go with a good single drive to install everything on too... like i said in my one post.
and at the end of the day if you end up turning out to be a pc guru... then ugrade to a ssd and do the rest.....

the 580 is a solid choice... i can garentee if you go for the 560 you will be desipointed and will end up upgrading in the near futuar... odo not get me wrong the 560 is strong but do you want somehting right the first time or buy somthing that is not really wht you want and upgrade later and have a card lying around that people do not wnat to buy it from what is worth and kill you on the price when you want to sell it.... the people on ocn are always looking fro prices almost next to nothing and will not pay things that are the normal going price

Not to shabby at all, that rig will be able to max out most games out there easy. However, I HIGHLY advise your not to get the sentinel mouse. I went through two of them (bought two by mistake on amazon...was a little drunk when I clicked "Ok" at the checkout lol). Anyways, the first one; the cursor started to "drift" on the screen at random times, even when left alone and if I clicked the button, it would shift to any random direction by a few milimeters. VERY annoying. All drivers installed, etc. Then after about a week after that, the friggin mouse...started to squeek....lol. Litterally, whenever I would click the left button, it would squeek/creek. This is after 2-3 weeks worth of usage. Said screw it and picked up my logitech G500 (great mouse!). Couple months later, just for S's & G's, I popped in my other sentinel mouse which had been collecting dust in its box. Again, installed drivers/software. Worked amazing for a couple days, then the drifting problem persisted yet again (this is also on a completely different rig, had sig rig by this point). Tossed the piece of crap in a box, keeping it as a backup/spare. I love the sentinel design/feel, and prefer it over my G500. But I just cannot do with the drifting thing. I was getting slaughtered in Black Ops and BFBC2, wasn't too bad while playing MMOs and SC2. Also, if your investing in a 580, get yourself a 1080 monitor. Might as well if your gonna drop $500 on a video card. I personally use the Samsung P2770. Beautiful monitor. Bought it while I was in Japan before it came to the US. Pricey but worth it. Unless you look at doing a multi monitor display in the future then I would advise against it as the bezel is kind of big.

You're going to want an SSD for faster boot times in games. Also, I recommend the G9X over the G500. One GTX 580 will max out every game out in 1920x1080. You will not need 2 of them, even one year down the line. That's what is meant by overkill.

Also you said that it is not too shabby at all....... It can max out any game out there.......
So can you name some games which my new rig can't max out ?? If there are some, advice me some even better components, as extending my budget will not bother me much.
I said no such thing. What I meant was that you will not see much difference between a 570 and a 580 with 1 monitor.A few badly coded games will be the exception. The point is-by cutting out some money where it does not improve performance, you can upgrade where it will...like a 2600K vs 2500K and a SSD.If you can get the 580 and the 2600K and a SSD....go for it.

u can max out everything,
but metro2033,crysis to when set to highest anti alising will lag a bit,
if u can extend budget, get a better mobo:
asus p8p67 deluxe

I haven't tried, but I would assume the 580 wont max out metro 2033...thats about it lol. I mainly play black ops, bfbc2, rift on occassion, and sc2. Everything is max settings and looks amazing. Many people rag on Black Ops, but I believe it is still a very good looking game. Main reason I got the 580 was to future proof my rig for BF3. Haven't bought Crysis 2 yet, so I can't vouch for it, but I've read it doesnt have DX11 anyways.

I wouldn't heed this too much, the Phantom is a phenomenal case and one the favorites here around OCN, the HAF is nice yes, but there is really nothing wrong with the Phantom, especially if it's the white one.

And about the case, HAF 932 is really renowned and I have a lot of people here of that chassis, if its cooling is great, I will get it.
As from a gamer's point, you are right...... the things you suggested holds good points.
Also please tell me that if I can get even better performing components within my budget.....
i am a razer boy.... but, i have played with the g500 and loved it. for finger tip and palm grip it was comfy. the settings on it are nice as well that you can do
the haf932... i have a few of them... and love them. there is loads of space in the case for water mods etc.....
with my sig at the moment i am running a 450 with
1175 volts
1000 core
2000 shader
2170 mem
and my card does not go over64 degree cell on full load with msi combustor.... if i stop the fans i get 10 - 15 degree cell increase in temps...
if i monitor the temps on my mobo as well with the amount of voltage i am putting in it... with the fans off i get almost 17 degree cell increase in temp... so the case air flow is nice and does keep my stuff cool.
the other case of mine i am modding slowly as a side line little project and there is loads of potential as well
as in other recomendations....
ram depending on your OS (32 or 64 bit) i will ethier get 6 or 12 gig of ram.... (i am a ram whore - i get as much as possible in) but brands corsair or mushkin.
if you go with water there is the corsair H70.... very good for a mild overclock and matinance free - can be a pain installing the pump with the bracket it has.
psu... corsair 850 watt probably if you are going to go sli next year spend the money once and not worry later about funds...

OK..... I now understand you, but I want to stick to GTX 580 as many people here say that it will be able to max out each and every game out now and even for 2 years down the road, and if more demanding games come out, I will get an SLI setup for me......
And for SSD, does it have some disadvantages ?? I heard that they have a lifespan ??? { read it in a review online }
Oh, also, for another peripheral, I highly suggest getting yourself a pair of G930's. If you setting up a gaming rig, they are very beastly. Wireless, great battery life.
